Twinkie Experiment
by B

I have studied the ingredients of the Twinkie because I like to bake. Twinkies are a good treat every once and a while, if you like eating the glue on the back of envelopes. Twinkies are a tasty snack, but they are not good for you. So, next time you pick up a Twinkie, think of cellulose gum.  It is what rocket engineers use in the fuel of rockets, and it is one of the ingredients in a Twinkie.

Over the last two weeks, I have watched a Twinkie and a homemade cupcake. The Twinkie didn’t change much at first, but over time, it became hard as a rock.  It shrunk about one and a half inches. Also, the filling became as hard as the outside.

The cupcake also shrunk, but not as much, and it also became hard. I couldn’t even break it in half.  There was a small hole in the bottom of the cupcake.  The two baked goods seem to have many of the same traits. I’m surprised neither of them molded a lot, especially the cupcake.

Twinkies are known across the world as America’s most favored treat. The Twinkie comes in many flavors like banana, chocolate, beef, and strawberry. I think beef Twinkies sound gross! Twinkies also come in bite-sized portions, so you can eat them on the go.
